After researching the usual PC desktop brands, I stumbled upon Mini PC platforms. Given the form and function of these units, I decided to go the Mini PC direction. So far, I do not regret my purchase decision. This unit was delivered in a rugged box that protected the AX8 Max in a dense foam package which also included a manual, cables and a mounting plate with hardware for the back of a monitor. Wow... I was thoroughly impressed! I hooked up the unit to only my monitor, keyboard and mouse to boot for the first time. The AX8 is very quiet and I had to check to see if it was actually working. Boot time was instantaneous. After seeking the Geekom icon on the screen the unit went into the Microsoft Windows 11 Pro installation mode. There you must go thru the initial set up of Windows 11 pro which includes discovering your wifi network. No issues at all connecting to my network and downloading all the Windows 11 Pro updates. Give yourself about 1 hour for the typical Microsoft Windows first time setup. Another plus for purchasing this unit from Geekom was that it was not loaded with bloatware from third party software venders. Just shipped with Windows 11 Pro. As far as use case for the AX8 Max, it easily handles Adobe creative design software and motion graphics along with the typical office applications without any lag or buffering. I am not a gamer, but seeing that the VRAM is set a 8GBs and can be increased to 16GBs in the BIOS, I would say that this unit can handle AAA casual games. The AX8 Max does have the ability to accept a dedicated GPU externally thru one of the many ports described in the enclosed manual. (More info is included on their website for those wanting to deep dive on the specs) I did have a couple questions, which I used the "ask product question' feature within my Amazon account under orders. Geekom customer service responded within 24 hours to both questions along with a follow-up to see if I was satisfied with the response. This definitely gave me a good feeling about my purchase and the ability for Geekom to honor their warranty period. In closing, here are the positives in purchasing the AX8 Max: Case is sturdy aluminum, numerous connection ports for external peripherals, Win 11 Pro with no bloatware or ads, fast processor and memory, compatible with most third party software such a Adobe, quiet and cool operation, mounting capabilities off the desk and onto the back of a monitor/display, warranty, customer service and the price point. If you have a PC that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10, I would urge you to consider this model."
