"I don't write reviews often if ever but hope to save somebody their money. Had this professional installed by a local RV shop. First let me tell you my intention as yours may be different: I wanted to install this in front of my RV (5th wheel) transfer switch to power every A/C outlet on my coach via battery. Realistically I never intended to run the A/C off battery power even though technically I could run it for a few minutes I suppose, but we did, however, plan to run the A/C when connected to shore power at our house where we keep it when not in use. I will cut through the hours of troubleshooting on my own, with Renogy support (see rating above for that), and with the pros at the shop. First, the Renogy cannot handle the inrush of current used to start up my single Coleman 13.5 BTU A/C. Even though the Renogy clearly and correctly shows in bypass mode (shore power) it shuts down hard and kills all A/C and D/C in the coach when you attempt to turn on A/C. Literally nothing else plugged in to any outlet. That is major problem number one. To correct that, I installed a SoftStartRV (smooths out inrush if you are not familiar). Next problem - when it does shut down hard like that it is a pain to restart. I found I could attach a portable battery operated jump starter. But this thing does not seem to be a true pass through and does require 12v power to operate. This is design issue IMO. If your 12V dies on you, and you are set up like my 5th, your camping trip is probably over. Third issue - only operates up to 104 degrees. I live in Phoenix, AZ. That is why I want to run the A/C at the house. I have come out a couple times this week to find the Renogy mysteriously dead and all coach power off again (per above, pre soft start install, A/C in off position). AZ September heat is my best guess because there are no trouble codes to review when this thing shuts down hard. And I noticed on other brand units, published power output drops as heat goes up, so for all I know even though this Renogy unit is supposedly in spec for my A/C, it was way underpowered in the AZ heat helping cause the issues described."
