"I ordered this Kindle as I love to keep up with children’s literature, and there’s a Kindle for family members of an appropriate age that can be secured. As a teacher (retired), I have experienced electronic reading devices from the start and have enjoyed my own adult Kindles in various forms. I prefer them to be simple with a minimum of added features. I like this Kids Kindle that is basic and has no ads. What is a bonus is that it’s easy enough, using your parental code, to access your own adult Kindle library. The usual settings can be applied there. It comes safely sealed in a cool gift box. I like how the inside of the lid has a faint white-on-white image of a child reading under a tree with a famous quote. The product information card offers a QR code on the back for setup if you are just starting with Kindle. The device is very sturdy and I absolutely love the Pirate-themed exterior. It’s lightweight and thin. The case is great, opening just like a print book, with magnetic closure. Myself, I prefer Kindle pages that look like paper, so this device is perfect for me. The pages are black and white. There is no glare if you are reading in a bright place. The size of the screen is good, not too large nor too tiny. It’s easy for small hands to hold. You get 16 gigabytes. Following instructions, you are supposed to click a button to turn it on. That was not possible in the case and I couldn’t get the case off. Finally the electronics noticed my movements and it turned the Kindle on. Weird. Now it engages normally when you open the cover. Then you enter your language, location, wifi password and then wait up to 15 minutes to load the latest updates. You’re given an option to load in kids’ books from your own electronic library. You set up the child’s name and birth date to engage the reading level of books you want. If you have a precocious reader or are sharing one kid's login, you should choose a setting for older kids to get the widest range of books."
